Nepal: Finding a Peace that Endures
“I was one of the worst people in the village,” Gaire admits. “I drank, quarrelled with my wife, and wasted my time. I ruined my children’s education. I had no peace.”
Despite the disarray in his life, Gaire saw the light when friends, trained by Bible League, shared the Gospel with him. “Still, I didn’t change for years. I just went to church. I didn’t understand my responsibility,” he says. “Then I felt a desire to do something for God,” he describes. “I started praying for a church in my area. One day a Bible League trainer asked me to be in church planting training.”
A slow change for the better
Life began to change for Gaire and his family. “I felt God blessing us. The training helped me develop as a leader and it impacted my life,” he explains. Gaire shared the Gospel openly as he placed Project Philip Bible studies. “People threatened me if I didn’t stop, but I kept doing it; I prayed for those who threatened me,” he says. Gaire kept at it. He was organized. He followed up. Evangelism made him a responsible person. “I thank the Lord for Bible League training,” he says. Not much of the old Gaire remains.
Today, Gaire leads two cell groups in his remote community. “God blessed my church and we have our own church building. More than 130 were baptized and 150 members are in fellowship,” he reports. The training Gaire and his church received transformed his family, his church and still impacts his village.
India: Jesus Lives in Me
Pooja Kumary is 19 years of age and lives in Sonarparty, Ramnager, Chhapra.
“I have two brothers and two sisters but when my dad passed away I felt very insecure and feared about the future, especially how I was to live “without his support”, shared Pooja.
“One day, I met my friend Rityja who goes to a Bible League Literacy Class and she told me about Jesus Christ. She invited me to join her class. So I decided to go with her and met Brother Nishant who taught us about Jesus Christ. This was the first time that I had heard about Jesus Christ. I was given the literacy books which were very helpful to me as I didn’t know how to read and write”.
Attending the literacy class blessed me in two ways. Firstly, I now know how to read and write very well. Secondly, and this is the most important thing, I now know who is Jesus Christ and why he came to earth. My life has completely changed because Jesus came into my life. I now have completely surrendered my life to Jesus Christ.
